Robertwilson1128: I have been seeing activity around the area lately and decided to check on this cache. It seems that a new developer is trying to clean the place up and will be marketing the home sites in the near future. . The previous developer went bust before the area could get up and running, consequenty the cache name "Failed Dreams". Since there will be a lot of public activity with the new developer I think it's best to archive this cache.

Geocache Description:


This is a series of caches placed at various places on Pine Island, to acquaint you with our piece of “Old Florida”. It is sometimes referred to as “The Forgotten Island” because of the absence of big developments, high rise condos and other types of modern day developments.

Pine Islanders have strived to slow the ever changing cycle of urban development that is so prevalent in all of Florida. We like the Island as it is, a place to live, work and play in harmony with nature, among the Caloosa Indian mounds, and amid the steadfast Mangroves that keep our island together.

This cache brings you to an place that was to be developed into homestead lots containing 1+ acres within its own preserve area. These sites surround a six acre lake and are nestled amid the natural unspoiled beauty of Pine Island.

Unfortunately this development was started at the time of the real estate “bust”. Now you look at this site and you see someone’s “Failed Dreams”.
