Guildford to Horsham Line
The Guildford to Horsham line opened in 1865 and as the name
suggests ran between Guildford and Horsham.Baynards is the only
surviving station as it is now a private residence. Back in 1942
the station was used for filming the chase scenes in the Will Hay
film - The Black Sheep of Whitehall. It was also used as the
location for the first BBC series - The Railway Children.
In 1965 just short of it's 100th year in operation, The Guildford -
Horsham line was the only branch line in Surrey to be axed by the
infamous Dr Beeching. Whilst the line was removed, the track-bed
hasremained undeveloped.
As the house is now a private residence, please respect the privacy
