Geocache Description:

Mason, established in1855, had the first rail service in Tipton County in December 1855, when the Memphis and Ohio Railroad completed the route from Memphis to Nashville. Although a "poke and plumb" town to many ( by the time you poke your head out the window, you're plumb through the town ), Mason is the site of the Annual GOWT Business / Members Meeting as well as home to a couple of world famous restaurants, catering to favorites of the South, Chicken and BBQ.

This cache is placed for new visitors and old friends alike to read a bit of history about Mason as well as collect a smiley on your way through Mason. You may be attending the annual GOWT meeting, stopping for a great bite to eat, or just passing through. Regardless of the reason, Mason shows you a bit of Southern history and hospitality.

Parking near the cache is very limited and care should be taken if you pull to the side of the road near the cache.
