Known
As
Luce's Corner. Founded in 1865 the name was changed in 1883 to
Courtland at the request of S.L. Porter for his former home of
Courtland, NY. Even though the Post Office changed it's name, the
town carried the spelling Courtland continued well into the
twentieth century.
