[LV]: No pilsētas centra, dodoties lejup, nevar ne paiet, ne arī pabraukt garām Vecajai kapsētai. Nonākot šajā teritorijā, vienkāršs, ne īpaši izlepis eiropietis un arī Liepājas centra iedzīvotājs nonāk pasaulē, kurā jūtas atsviests vismaz uz iepriekšējo gadsimtu. Vecie Kaiju ielas kapi ir senākā pilsētas kapsēta. Kā liecina vēstures avoti, apbedījumi tajos veikti jau 16.gadsimtā, kad Liepājai vēl nebija piešķirts pilsētas nosaukums. Taču daži vēstures avoti min iespējamību, ka apbedīšana tur varētu būt notikusi jau 13.gadsimtā, jo šajā vietā varētu būt bijusi sena apmetne. Interesanta ir Vecās kapsētas rašanās vesture. Pirmie apbedījumi veikti vecajā Katoļu kapsētā, bet vēlāk Vecās kapsētas teritorijā, pašā kanāla malā. Un tikai pēc tam veidots kapu paaugstinājums. Tas tapis no kuģiem izkrautām balasta smiltīm. Starp citu, vērīgākam vērotājam vel tagad ir saskatāms ceļš, pa kuru šīs smiltis varētu būt transportētas uz tagadējo kapsētas teritoriju. Vecās kapsētas pārzinis zina teikt, ka šis kapsētas augstākais kalniņš esot arī augstākā vieta pilsētā – tā ir 12 metru virs jūras līmeņa.
