Geocache Description:

This series involves a beautiful walk of 3.5 miles with many interesting historical and geological landmarks. Much of it is along a rocky coastline which resembles Cornwall on a micro scale. There are secluded bays, arches, a blow hole, ancient wells and a heart warming story of animal heroics. It is also the family walk (or run) when visiting family living in Rhoscolyn. Best of all, there is a highly recommended pub at the end, namely the White Eagle (see (visit link) )

Parking: Near St Gwenfaen’s Church: 53º 15.025’ N 4º 35.817’W
Rhoscolyn Beach: 53º 14.703’ N 4º 35.478’W

When you arrive at near the co-ordinates you should notice a low inscribed stone. The stone is at N53º 15.267’ N 4º 36.563’W. Overlooking the sea, it is inscribed `Tyger Sep 17th 1819`, and commemorates the bravery of a dog that guided his master and crew to safety when their ketch sank half a mile offshore in mist. One of the younger crew hung on to his collar and, after taking him to land, the retriever dragged another man onto the rocks. Although all the men survived, Tyger died from exhaustion. This seemed a fitting location to base this cache on. The cache is not at the stone but nearby in a line of old stones.

After you have visited the cache site make sure you visit not only the well but also the two natural arches of Bwa Du and Bwa Gwyn. (You may have passed these already depending on which way round you tackle this series).
