This is one of a series of caches located on St. Helena Island. Permission has been granted by Great Lakes Lighthouse Keepers Association to place this cache.
This cache is placed to recognize the large number of snakes that inhabit this island. Some of the snakes that live here are the ring necked snake, northern water snake, eastern fox snake, and garter snake. The snakes will not bother you, if you don't pick them up or step on them. Most of the snakes eat mice and earthworms.
This series of caches is not available during the winter months. It is recommended that you wear shoes that cover your whole foot and can get wet. There is poison ivy located near this cache, so watch where you are walking. And look out for snakes as well!
