This cache is in a location that will allow you to get a really good look at Conical Sink, which is approximately 300 feet in diameter and 100 feet deep. Due to its proximity to the road, Conical Sink was used as an illegal dumping site for years. Dumping in a sinkhole is a particularly bad idea, because it introduces any contaminants right into the groundwater. In November 2007, Conical Sink was cleaned up thanks to a partnership of Federal, State, and local agencies. Click (here) for an article that describes the cleanup – it’s a great story!
You will be looking through the chain-link fence down into the sinkhole. The fence is posted with "No Dumping" signs. The cache used to be a magnetic nano on the fence, but the container was dropped and lost more than once! Be careful when removing and replacing containers - if you drop one, you're kinda obligated to retrieve it and put it back where it belongs!
