Geocache Description:

I thought this would be an interesting project to watch over the next year or so, with a photographic history of it's progress.

This cache will situate you in a position to overlook the construction of a new freeway bridge.

Please note there is only one way to get to this cache, parking at the Djerriwarrah Bridge, over the Lerderderg River. It is located about 5 km east of Bacchus Marsh . Head east out of town along the Avenue of Honor then continue east when you reach the Western Freeway. As you come down the first hill (i.e., Anthony's Cutting) there is a turnoff on the left which leads to the bridge, which was built in 1858-59 of local sandstone.

Please don't attempt this from any other direction, or try to find a park on the westbound lanes. This project is being done for a reason, it is a dangerous section of road, and extremely busy.

This is also a site for another cache. GCGBZ4

From the carpark, head down the steep track, down the creek under the western freeway, the follow the gps to the cache.

The New Project Description (I don't intend this to sound like an advertisement, but may read as such)

This project involves the construction of a four-lane dual carriageway on a new alignment approximately five kilometres in length between Harkness Road, West Melton and Bacchus Marsh. It will include a bridge overpass at Bulmans Road in Melton; two Melbourne bound access ramps at Hopetoun Park Road; and a full diamond interchange at Woolpack Road in Bacchus Marsh which includes the extension of Woolpack Road to Bacchus Marsh Road.
Benefits

Construction commenced in February 2010 and is expected to be completed in early 2012.

The Cache is an Ammo Box, with a 3L systema container inside. It has an assortment of goodies to swap.
(I would like to give recognition to caughtatwork for this inspiration, with his CATS program.)
