Geocache Description:

Take the weight off your feet, sit relax for a while.

The road from Wanlockhead, at 1380 feet above sea level, Scotland's highest village, passes through the Mennock Pass in the Lowther Hills to the Nithsdale village of Mennock. Gold, lead and silver have been mined nearby since Roman times, and it is believed that gold from this area was used in the crowns of Scottish kings.
A significant pass and deep valley of the Lowther Hills, the Mennock Pass descends to the southwest of Wanlockhead conveying the B797 to link with the A76 trunk road at Mennock. The scenery is spectacular as the road twists and turns above the Mennock Water through a valley devoid of settlement.
