Geocache Description:




Creston, was Originally Known As Dement Station. Founded in 1854 it was named for John Dement, the Illinois state treasurer in the 1830's and mayor of Dixon in the 1870's. In 1869 the name was changed to Creston because it was believed to be the higest point between Chicago and the Mississippi River along the Chicago and North Western rail line.
