Small Locking cach
Welcome to Campbellville!
This charming little town has many gems to explore, the park you're in is one of them. This small park consists of a small area of green space with a gazebo, a picnic tables and a pond. The towns original founder Mr. Campbell erected a saw mill at this location, the villages first industry. Information provided by a local resident states that this pond was the "Mill Pond", used for the saw mill, which was located just east of the Guelph line, north of the CPR tracks, (where some of the building still remain and re-purposed for other uses). The sawmill was active until it was gutted by fire in the winter of 1957. It was then run as a lumber and coal yard for many years after. This pond is now one of the reservoirs along the Bronte Creek, it may not seem like much but it helps hold and store rain water and prevent flooding downstream (and there is a second pond, "Campbellville Pond" located downstream near another factory building). On the sign near the parking you can find information on Conservation Halton parks and events.
In 2008 members of Campbellville raised money to add a nice pergola / gazebo to the park, feel free to wander over and enjoy it. The residence of Campbellville are proud of their little park and the new gazebo and there are park watchers so stealth is recommended.
First to find prize: Family day pass (one car) into one of our entry fee parks.
