Geocache Description:

MOCKINGBIRD HILL has returned! Finally the Highland Avenue Water Treatment Plant improvements have been made and this local attraction has been restored and replaced for all to enjoy! This cache replaces “MockingBirdHill” GCGTBY originally placed by Geodoozer in September of 2003. Unfortunately, it was archived in 2009 due to construction of the new water treatment plant. I felt it only appropriate to replace a new cache in this very interesting and historical location.

Mockingbird Hill, known by many as “the little village”, was originally built in the late 1940s by Captain Carl Daniel and numerous other firemen. As the story goes, while building the village, a mockingbird sang to them from it’s nest in a nearby tree reminding them of a popular song entitled “Mockin’ Bird Hill”. They named the village after the song and it remained a treasured landmark to the local residents for over 50 years. Through the years, it has been maintained by local firemen, community volunteers, and the water treatment plant staff.
Mockingbird Hill was rebuilt as part of the Highland Avenue Water Treatment Plant Expansion and dedicated by the Citizen Advisory Group on August 27, 2009 in honor of the original “little village”.
Please visit the “Related Web Page” icon for more information and pictures of both the original and the new “village”.
I have purposely made this hide a very easy Park & Grab. The cache is easily found while sitting on one of the benches while you enjoy your visit. Parking is readily available across the street. DO NOT PARK IN OR BLOCK THE ADJACENT DRIVEWAY! By all means, bring the kids! I hope you enjoy this Augusta Landmark as much as I have since I was a child!

CACHE IS NOW WHEELCHAIR ACCESABLE.
PLEASE DO NOT BLOCK DRIVEWAY!!
AMPLE PARKING ACROSS THE STREET!

You are looking for a bison tube. Please replace it exactly where you found it! And, as always………..BYOP!

PLEASE NOTE:

THE CONTAINER IS NOT HIDDEN IN ANY OF THE MINIATURE BUILDINGS...THERE IS NO NEED TO VENTURE OFF THE PAVED WALKWAYS!

PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH THE BLACK FENCE!!! SEEMS IT IS UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF AND PROTECTED BY HOMELAND SECURITY
AND IS NOT A PART OF THE MOCKINBIRD HILL DISPLAY. THE CACHE HAS BEEN MOVED FROM THE FENCE.
DO NOT SEARCH THERE EITHER! (SEE NEW HINT)
WATER WORKS PERSONELL ARE AWARE OF THE CACHE AND WILL QUESTION ANYONE TAMPERING WITH THE FENCE OR GATE!

Happy caching……Enjoy!………….Hoots!

Congratulations to JKCcachers for a very eventful and deserving FTF!
