Geocache Description:

Cache in a fighter jet from the Duluth Air National Guard base in Duluth, MN.

This might be as close to a fighter jet as any of us will get. It is great fun to flip switches and pretent to be bombing the enemy.

You are standing under an F-4 All Weather Fighter Bomber
This fighter had 17,900 pounds of thrust, could fly to heights of 60,000 feet and had a range of 1300 miles on a single tank of fuel.

Price tag in 1963 $18.4 million

This aircraft was deployed in May of 1963 and retired in December of 1995 and saw most of its action during the Vietnam Conflict.

The last pilot to fly this aircraft was Brigadier General Terry Heggemeier. BGen Heggemeier grew up in Madison, KS, about 20 miles south of this location.

For more on the aircraft visit the lobby of the airport.

Cache is an ammo can concealed in the landing gear.
