Geocache Description:

A countryside multi-cache.

The clue is on a tarmac road, but the cache is in the countryside on a muddy path.

You'll benefit from the use of an OS map to find your way cross country from clue to cache.

The fourth in the series exploring the interesting parts of Llantwit Major.

You'll benefit from walking boots or wellies for the countryside section of this cache.

Timings - from Car Park to clue = 5 to 10 mins, from clue to cache = 45 to 60 mins.

This one starts at a historic landmark in Llantwit, where you will find some clue words. The cache is some distance outside town.

Once you have deciphered the clue, you will have a decent trek ahead of you, across fields, using public footpaths. This trek will be made much easier if you have an OS map to aid you. It is good if you approach the final cache from the north east, because you then benefit from lovely views down and across the Bristol Channel.

En route, you should also encounter Sheepleys Barn - an old, er, barn, now becoming more ruinous with each passing season. The footpaths take you through a variety of fields, some with sheep, some with cattle, and some with arable crops. The crop fields are my favourite - in winter, the path is barely visible through the bare earth, and in summer, you can be lost in a swaying crop.

The cache itself is near the waterfall stile. Well, that's what I call it. It's a typical Glamorgan stone stile, with a vertical slab. In wet weather, a stream would flow through the stile and down the steps the far side. Good fun, if slightly treacherous. In the past few years this stream has been slightly diverted to exit to the north of the stile. Never mind, it's still a lovely walk.

After finding the cache, the walk can retrace your steps, or follow the coastal path back by a variety of routes.

The clue!
To work out the location of the physical cache, you need to use the words at this first location in the order that they are written. For instance, if the words said "the cat sat on the mat", the numerical value of those words would be 1 2 3 4 5 6.

So, this cache is located at:

N051° House(1) This . Forming This House (1)
W003° This 0 . Reputation This Forming

You may deduce that the word "house" appears twice in the clue location, so "House(1)" is the first appearance of the word in the clue location.

Happy caching!
