Geocache Description:

Small cache containing swaps, pen and log book. You can either drive to the top car park...or walk up the hill from the bottom car park.

Captain Melville was born Frank McCallum and sent to Point Puer at Port Arthur (a prison for young boys). Some knew Captain Melville as a charming womanizer, whilst to others he was a villain. He only spent a short time at Melville Caves. He also spent time around Mount Arapillies near Horsham. He would look down from his location, searching for Coaches that he could rob, usually those transporting gold from the goldfields. He was imprisoned for the last time after spending a big night out drinking and womanizing. He was bragging about his exploits, and one of the women dobbed him in to get the reward. He was found dead from strangulation in his cell, officially he suicided...unofficially, he didn't get on with wardens...Five containers of gold dust have never been found, some say this is hidden at Melville Caves, others say it is hidden at Mount Arapillies.
