Geocache Description:

Seventh of a series of caches to take you up the picturesque Illinbah Valley.

Situated in beautiful and seldom visited corner of S.E.Queensland, this cache will reward the finder with fantastic views across the Valley towards Binna Burra and Lamington N.P.

Access is from Tabletop Road (off Illinbah Road) via Beechmont Road. Tabletop Road is a gazetted gravel road without any nasty suprises and can be tackled with any car with reasonable ground clearance. Motorhomes and long vehicles not recommended though.

The cache was moved from it's original location on 10/10/10 because the landowners erected a new gate 60m downhill from old GZ. This is a bit naughty as it's a public road. If the gate is unlocked, there's nothing stopping you going through to admire the views further on.

Park as close as you can to GZ before the gate. The road is a little wider here. GZ will be approx 10m above you. Don' start climbing up - walk up to the the gate and go through/around it. Turn immediately right along the ridge line and follow your arrow to GZ. You'll need to negotiate a small barbed wire fence but don't worry, it's all on public land.

Turning your car round can be a bit hairy here. If you're worried about the drop, go through the gate and there's a good spot just round the corner.

The road itself is council maintained and, according to the landowner, used to provide access to the Lammington National Park via a walking trail. However the QNPS stopped maintaining this area of the park about 7 years ago due to lack of funding and the trails have now largely dissapeared...shame. There is an N.P. sign at the very end of the road but to continue on into the park from here you have to cross private property and you should obtain permission from the landowners, the phone number is given on a sign just past the gate.

We hope you enjoy your scenic drive in this lovely area.
