"Build it, and they will come".
Ok, so we're not exactly building anything, but instead, hosting an event. This is a real ruggid type of event - plan on bugs, campfire smoke and a grand old time.
When: Saturday, May 29th, 2010
Time: Noon - 4 pm
Where: Pinehurst Lake Conservation Area
468 Pinehurst Road, RR3
Ayr, Ontario
N0B 1E0
PLEASE NOTE THE NEW DATE!!!!!! Please plan on attending if you can, and please inform me of any conflicting local events!
We will be meeting in the picnic shelter for the afternoon of fun, games and prizes. This is an all ages event, so come on out and bring the family! As the picnic shelter does have a solid roof, this is a rain or shine event (but let's hope for shine!!).
Please be sure to indicate the number of people in your party. Kids are welcome to attend, and, as Pasha has a pair of 6 year old neices, there will be a kids' play area with various toys and games set up for the afternoon including volunteers to run activities just for those under 14.
Come and join us for an afternoon of food, fun and friendship. We are hoping to make this an exciting time for all those in attendance with lots of door prizes, activities, trackable trading/discovery, and trivia.
This is a POT LUCK event, meaning please bring something to share with the crowd.
PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO FOOD ALLERGIES THIS IS A SHELLFISH AND FISH FREE EVENT!!!
As an incentive, the first three people/families to sign up for the event that actually attends the event will receive a 100% trackable, unactivated geocoin (your choice of 3 different ones). AS THE EVENTS HAVE CHANGED, I WILL STILL HONOUR THE ORIGINAL WINNERS IF THEY STILL PLAN ON ATTENDING THIS EVENT! In additon, the first person to sign up for the new date will also win a coin.
The first family to sign up for the original date is Outsiders2, the second Dex4 and the third Jarhead5 - they will all receive unactivated geocoins on the day of the event if they come on the new date.
Please note, Pinehurt Lake does charge an admission fee for entrance to the Park. Pasha88 in conjunction with one of the companies she works for will be covering the cost of the picnic shelter for the day, but you will have to pay your own way in.
According to the GCRA website, the current entrance fees are:
Adults (14+) = $4.50
Children 5-14 = $2.50
Children under 5 = FREE
This is a full service park including flush toilets, water service, access to the beach and parking.
From the GRCA website:
Pinehurst Lake is a nine-hectare (23-acre) kettle lake formed by a single piece of ice. The lake has a sandy beach and is surround by mature Carolinian forest.
During the summer months (April-October) Pinehurst Lake is transformed into a summer playground offering camping, swimming, fishing, boating, picnicking and hiking opportunities. In the winter, Pinehurst is transformed into one of the premier snowshoe and ice-fishing facilities in the region
Note: The entire region is considered a "Radio-free" zone, so no boom boxes or radios please!
Camping (serviced and unserviced sites) are also available for those coming from a distance or wishing to stay in the park overnight. DLob89 and Pasha88 will be staying on the Friday evening - if you are planning to camp overnight, please let Pasha88 know and she will provide info as to where other cachers will be camping within the park so staying together is a possibility.
Please put this page on your "watchlist", because more information will be posted in the next few weeks.
