We see a lot of trees while out hiking. Every once in a while we find a tree that stands out from the rest. This is a series for all those unique trees.
We heard tell of a tree known locally as the "Veitch Viking." When out on one of our regular hikes, we thought we had found it, but we were mistaken. When we found the "True Veitch Viking" its 25 foot cicumference and towering height dwarfed our previous tree. Thanks very much to 'Summit Post Guy' who gave us the coordinates for the true Viking. It is located near the head of a branch of Veitch Creek and cannot be seen from any of the old roads. The best apporach is to follow the old logging road known as Veitch Main, past the trail to Mount Braden, and then when you get close follow one of the flagged routes... or bushwhack in from the north.
