This is a Julius Caesar brain teaser meant to compliment Brantford's first ever geocaching event, "The 'HIDES' of March" on March 15, 2010. You will need to travel to three different "Caesar-like" locations around Brantford in order to find the information needed to find the final cache and log book.
1. FIRST STOP - "Only his hairdresser knew for sure."
The coordinates at the top of the cache page will lead you to your FIRST STOP . . . you don't even need to get out of the car to find your first answer.
Now, count the RED CURSIVE letters on the store front signage. This answer will be "n." n = _____
2. SECOND STOP - "A modern day Colosseum."
Caesar would have gone to watch combative gladiators, or the Christians vs the lions, but today we go to watch the Saints vs the 99ers. In order to find the coordinates for the second stop, you will need to use the above number ("n") to solve several simple math problems. Once you have the correct answer to each problem, plug them in to the proper place in the coordinates listed below.
N 43 08.____ ____ W 080 ____ .____ ____
FIRST BLANK
n - 12 = _____
SECOND BLANK
n x 5 + 8 = _____
THIRD BLANK
n - 7 x 3 = _____
FOURTH BLANK
n - 4 = _____
FIFTH BLANK
n x 4 = _____
Once you find the second cache, you will find a set of new coordinates in the container. These coordinates will take you to your THIRD STOP.
3. THIRD STOP - "Straight out of Caesar's neighbourhood."
At this stop you will need to write down the five digit number that can be seen on the yellow tag strapped to a concrete light pole. Once again, you don't even need to get out of the car to find this number. Use this number to solve several simple math problems. Once you have the correct answer to each problem, plug them in to the proper place in the coordinates listed below.
Five digit number = "X" =___________________
N 43 10.____ ____ W 080 16.____ ____
FIRST BLANK
Add the 3rd and 4th digits together = _____
SECOND BLANK
Take the last two digits of "X" = _______
Subtract the first two digits of "X" from the above number = _______
THIRD BLANK
Take the last two digits of "X" = _______. Add the sum total of the first three digits = ______ to the previous number = ______.
FOURTH BLANK
Take the sum total of the last two digits of "X" = ______. Subtract the sum total of the first three digits of "X" from the previous number = ______.
4. FINAL STOP - "I'll have a Caesar salad, please."
The final coordinates will take you to a popular refueling station. I am sure Caesar would have appreciated the bounty and the variety!
We ask that you trade fair. "TRADE UP OR TRADE EVEN"! By continuing to play the game this way, other cachers might have a chance to enjoy finding a trackable or other geocaching swag when they visit this cache.
