As I write up this event there is still 5” of snow on the ground (2-25) with more expected, but spring is less than a month away!

An equinox occurs twice a year, when the tilt of the Earth's axis is inclined neither away from nor towards the Sun, the Sun being vertically above a point on the Equator. The name "equinox" is derived from the Latin aequus (equal) and nox (night), because around the equinox, the night and day are approximately equally long. For 2010 that occurs on Saturday, March 20 and marks the beginning of spring in the northern hemisphere.

For the day of the event, sunrise will occur at 7:10 am and sunset at 7:13 pm Daylight savings time kicks in a few days earlier when sunset jumps from 6:08 pm on 3/13 to 7:09 pm on 3/14. Finally there is plenty of light after work for a few caches! THATS REASON TO CELEBRATE!!!
