NOTICE: BLM has contacted me regarding this cache, and I will be
out there 12/30 with a Park Ranger to overview the site. The cave
had once been excavated and indian artifacts as well as fossils
found inside, and it is being considered a possible cultural
landmark. Additionally, it seems Chiroptera (bats) have taken up
residence, and disturbing them is not good. I will keep you updated
on this cache as things develop.
.---Take Lake Meade east out of the city towards the lake, there
will be a paved road that splits off to the left prior to the lake
entrance, take that about 2.6 miles, then turn onto the dirt road
on your left. If you pass the private property sign to the gypsum
strip mine, you went to far. With a truck you can park within about
250 ft of the cache, with a car maybe 300 ft. My coordinates on a
Garvin GPS-12 were N 36 13'27.1" , W 115 26' 20.2"
The cache is a mid-sized green ammo can. I hid it pretty well,
so when you find it, do the same. Inside you will find the
following:
- a rubber chicken (from the Caliente Mtn cache)
- a Warner Brothers Mouse Pad w/ the alien
- a US Army mousepad
- a Motorcity Casino, Detroit, Mi, shot glass
- a Grand Victoria Casino, Ind, $1 casino chip
- a Riverfront Station Casino, Kansas City, card deck
- a Prozac™ Post-It pad
- a video, "New Approach to Chiropractic Medicine"
If you want to go into the cave, it is a small, easy cave, takes
about 20-30 minutes to explore depending on how adventuresome you
are. Bring a good flashlight, long pants/gloves recommended.
