Geocache Description:

Located on a public waterfowl breeding marsh names "Tappen Slough" Requires a walk through some tall grass and maybe some wet soil.

October 2001

Hello there!

You have found my very first GeoCache! Congratulations!

My name is James Worley and I am a computer lab teacher in an elementary school in Missouri. I bought my first GPS unit and decided to try geocaching!

I chose this particular spot for self serving reasons I suppose. Let me explain…I love to waterfowl hunt…I mean, I dream about it 365 days a year! North Dakota is a duck hunter’s Mecca and I wish I could spend my life up here (maybe someday!). I figured by placing this geocache with a camera and some goodies, I could get folks to take a picture of the prairie pothole as the year passes by. When I return here next October, I will have a pictorial journal of this beautiful waterfowl breeding pond. I also hope that you enjoy this particular spot as much as I do and that you will gain an interest for protecting this beautiful part of the country for future generations to enjoy!

Please take the camera and take one good picture of the prairie pothole (you may need to walk north-west a few hundred yards to get the best pictures). If possible, try to get some wildlife in the picture. Sunrises and sunsets are particularly breathtaking shots (don’t you think?). Advance the film and place it back in the bag. If you are the person who takes the last picture on the roll, please drop the camera in the envelope, seal it, and place it in a mail box so that I may develop the pictures and dream about the next time I will be here.

Also, please make a few notes in the notebook about how your day was on the prairie pothole region!

I have included a few goodies in the cache as well. Feel free to take one or two for your collection. If you have a trinket you would like to leave, that would be great!

Once you have found my cache, please go to www.geocaching.com and report on your experience. I can’t wait to hear from you!

Sincerely,

James Worley
