Geocache Description:

This is the 7th geocache in a series called “Cache to Eagle” which highlights Eagle Service Projects by the Boy Scouts of the Chief Seattle Council.

This cache is in the North Lakes Scout district and is located at Bothell United Methodist Church. Parking is available behind the church.

Reaching the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America requires years of dedication and hard work. In addition to 21 required merit badges, each Scout must complete a project that – on average – requires 167 service hours. In 2008 alone, that translated to $16 million in service (based on the national volunteer hour value of $19.51/hr).

This cache is part of a nationwide geocaching series called “Cache to Eagle” that showcases these special contributions. A Boy Scout can find three of these "Cache to Eagle" caches to satisfy requirement 8(a) for the new Geocaching Merit Badge.

The photo highlights six Eagle projects by scouts in Troop 420, which is chartered by Bothell United Methodist Church. Projects include the garden shed, bridge and planting boxes, the labyrinth, outdoor chapel benches, and screens. The cache location is somewhere in this photo and is protected by a bald eagle. Troop 420 has been active for over 65 years. Visit the troop website for more info.

Explore the vegetable garden, both its plants and whimsical art. All of the food from this garden goes to the Hopelink food bank in Bothell. Take time to walk and meditate on the path in the labyrinth. Pick up a labyrinth brochure near the entrance for more info. Take a rest on a bench in the outdoor chapel near the tall firs.

Over its first 100 years, Scouting has provided millions of hours of service to communities across America. For our 100th Anniversary, we’re celebrating that legacy with special service opportunities through “A Year of Celebration, A Century of Making a Difference.” To learn more, visit 100 Years of Scouting.
