This sci-fi/horror cult classic with music, dance and comedy has a very large international following. It became notorious in 1977 as a midnight movie when audiences began participating with the film in theatres. Actor Tim Curry plays the part of a transvestite, mad scientist from Transylvania, whereas Susan Sarandon is featured as the heroine and Barry Bostwick the hero.
