I luoghi di Pinocchio 4 – Peretola
Carlo Lorenzini, detto Collodi, negli anni in cui scrisse “Le avventure di Pinocchio” risiedeva presso Villa Il Bel Riposo a Castello presso Firenze e, come testimoniano vari studi condotti nel tempo, trovò ispirazione per il suo capolavoro in persone, fatti e soprattutto luoghi con cui ebbe modo di venire a contatto proprio a Castello e nei vicini borghi di Peretola e Sesto Fiorentino.
A questi luoghi i comuni di Firenze e Sesto Fiorentino hanno dedicato un percorso segnaletico che si snoda in tre itinerari, questo multicache intende farvi percorrere l’itinerario di Peretola. In ogni punto troverete uno dei cartelli segnaletici contraddistinti dal lungo naso di pinocchio con una citazione del libro e la descrizione delle “tracce di Pinocchio” relative a quel luogo.
Il percorso può essere fatto con qualsiasi mezzo, se lo intraprendete a piedi dovrebbe richiedere complessivamente circa un’ora compreso il ritorno al punto di partenza. E’ consigliato fare il percorso di giorno dato che parte di esso si trova in luoghi isolati ai margini del contesto urbano.
Stage 1 L’incontro con la Volpe e il Gatto N43 47.942 E011 11.987
Siamo nella piazzetta che fu la corte degli Spini in Via di Motrone, venendo da peretola questo è l’ultimo gruppo di case che si incontra dirigendosi verso Castello attraversando la pianura che separa le due località. Un tempo i ladri e i briganti si appostavano nei borghi ai margini dell’abitato per derubare i viandanti, proprio come la volpe e il gatto.
Nel breve tratto di strada senza sfondo ove è ubicato il cartello di Pinocchio individuate un numero civico che si ripete due volte (con lettera A e B) e chiamatelo AB (A+B=11)
Stage 2: Il teatrino di Mangiafoco N43 47.832 E011 11.810
Pinocchio arrivò al teatrino di Mangiafoco percorrendo la strada traversa, che si può identificare con la Via del termine che univa Peretola a Castello e che oggi è in parte scomparsa per fare posto all’aeroporto Amerigo Vespucci.
Fino agli anni precedenti la seconda guerra mondiale in questa piazza si fermavano burattinai, saltimbanchi e mangiatori di fuoco.
In questa stessa piazza si trova anche il punto di partenza per il Mistery Cache “Amerigo Vespucci” di vericol.
Sul cartello di pinocchio trovate un numero di quattro cifre, chiamatelo CDEF (C+D+E+F=14)
Stage 3: Il Mare N43 47.465 E011 11.663
Siamo in fondo a Via San Biagio a Petriolo, l’unica costruzione presente è quella che un tempo era la casa del traghettatore della “Nave a Petriolo” che un tempo si utilizzava per attraversare l’Arno. Sul posto è a dir poco evidente come invece si attraversa l’arno in questo punto oggi!
Prima dell’ultimo alluvione il fiume Arno in questo punto era caratterizzato da un ampio greto dove in estate la gente del posto andava a fare il bagno, come in un “piccolo mare”.
Anche su questo cartello di pinocchio trovate un numero di quattro cifre, chiamatelo GHJL (G+H+J+L=22)
Adesso calcolate:

Attenzione!!! Alle coordinate finali il segnale non è ottimo, per la vostra sicurezza tenete conto che la cache è stata sistemata in un luogo sicuro che è raggiungibile sia a piedi che in bicicletta o altri mezzi a due ruote, non cercate assolutamente laddove è permesso l’accesso solo alle macchine o anche laddove si può arrivare esclusivamente a piedi.
La vostra destinazione e finale è: N43 ST.UVW E011 11.XYZ, raggiungetela tenendo conto di quanto sopra riportato.
Places of Pinocchio 4 - Peretola
Carlo Lorenzini also named “Collodi”, in the years he wrote "The Adventures of Pinocchio" resided at Villa Il Bel Riposo in Castello, near Florence, and, as shown by various studies over time, he found inspiration for his masterpiece in people, events and places which he was able to come into contact with in Castello and in the nearby villages and Peretola Sesto Fiorentino.

At any stage you will find one of the signs marked with the long nose of Pinocchio with a quotation from the book and the description of the "traces of Pinocchio" in that place.

You can do the multicache walking or using a vehicle. If you walk it would require a total of about an hour including the return to the starting point. It is recommended to do it in daylight as part of it is in isolated locations on the edge of the urban context.
Stage 1 The meeting with the Fox and the Cat N43 47,942 E011 11,987
We are in the square that was the court of the Spini family. As you come from Peretola this is the last group of houses you meet going to Castello across the plain that separates the two villages. Once the thieves and robbers lurked at the edge of villages to rob travelers, just like the fox and the cat.
In the short stretch of road without a background where the Pinocchio sign is located find a civic number that is repeated twice (with letter A and B) and call it AB (A + B = 11)
Stage 2: Fire Eater theater N43 47,832 E011 11,810
Pinocchio came to Fire Eater theater crossing the little street that led to a small village along the shore, the street can be identified with the Way that at that time connected Peretola with Castello and is now partly disappeared to leave space to the Amerigo Vespucci airport.
Until the years preceding the Second World War puppeteers, jugglers and fire eaters often stopped for their shows in this square.
This same square is also the starting point for the Mystery Cache "Amerigo Vespucci" by vericol.

Stage 3: The Sea N43 47,465 E011 11,663
We are the bottom of Via San Biagio in Petriolo, here is the only building that was once the home of the ferryman of the "Nave a Petriolo" (Petriolo ship) which once was used to cross the Arno. As you are in place is obvious what I used to cross Arno river at this point today!
Before the last Arno flooding the River at this point was characterized by a wide river bed where in summer the locals went for a swim, as in a "small sea".
On this Pinocchio cartel find a four-digit number, call GHJL (G + H + J + L = 22)
Now calculate:

Warning! At final coordinates GPS signal is not very good, for your safety know that the cache was placed in a safe location that is accessible either by foot or by bicycle or other two-wheeled vehicles, do not look in places that can be accessed only by cars or only by foot!
