Geocache Description:

Welcome to Tishomingo State Park !
There is a $3.00 entry fee per vehicle. The park is closed at night for visitors.

Located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Tishomingo State Park is steeped in history and scenic beauty. The park takes its name from the leader of the Chickasaw nation, Chief Tishomingo.
Tishomingo offers a unique landscape of massive rock formations and fern-filled crevices found nowhere else in Mississippi. Massive boulders blanketed in moss dot the hillsides.
Getting to the cache:
Park in the lot near Pavillion 1 and take a short walk behind the pavillion down the stone pathway. It will lead you to a large flat rock overlooking Bear Creek. Take the footpath to the right for about 200 feet or so until you come to another rock structure. Just beyond that you will see a huge hardwood tree next to a V crack in the rock. The cache (an ammo can) lies near the base of that hardwood;under a leaning rock. See photos .
