After seeing many other Alphabetical series, we decided to do our
own for our corner of the county of Buckinghamshire.
The caches all vary, some are bigger than others, but none are
micros and all have room for swaps.
Adstock is a village 3 miles North West of Winslow. In the late
11th Century, the Manor of Adstock was given by William the
Conqueror to his illegitimate son William Peverel. The village was
granted a temporary charter in 1665 to establish itself as a town,
this meant it could hold a market as the nearby towns of Buckingham
and Winslow were infected with Bubonic Plague. This was removed in
1685 and so Adstock remained a village.
Adstock had an outstation from the Bletchley Park codebreaking establishment, where some of the Bombes used to decode German Enigma messages in World War Two
were located.
PLEASE NOTE AT TIME OF LISTING THERE ARE LAMBING SHEEP IN THE FIELD, AS STATED IN LOGS YOU DO NOT NEED TO DISTURB THE SHEEP. PLEASE KEEP DOGS ON LEADS!
