Geocache Description:

Located at the Hagerman Reach Takeout boat ramp. Over looks the Snake River along the edge of a large parking area.

GOLD, GOLD, There's Gold in that river shouted the young boy in excitement as he ran up the hill. In his rush to tell the world of his

discovery, he checked and re-checked his coordinates to insure he could file his claim accurately, he proceeded to Geocaching.com and tried

to make sesnse of what he knew. As he filled out the forms he quickly discovered there was much to learn about this type of gold mining

known as Geocaching.

This region of the Snake river has a rich and varied history, from the Native Americans who fished and hunted in the area, to the early

pioneers and miners who sought their fortunes near here. Today this area is used by many recreationists who fish and float the river. Nearby

are several Wind Turbines that suppliment the Hydro-electric power plants and can be viewed from the other side of the river. Several years

ago a large area of the canyon wall slid down and partially blocked the river upstream from here, which created some nice whitewater rapids.

We were brought to this area by another cache across the river and thought this area needed more.
