Old Ft. King Trail is off Hwy 301 and runs between John B. Sargeants, Sr. Park and Hillsborough River State Park through some of the most beautiful lands of Hillsborough County.
Look for a camo'd plastic container.
Old Fort King trail is near the original Fort King Road. During the Second Seminole War, Fort King Road served as the main transportation and communication route between Fort Brook in Tampa and the Seminole Agency in Ocala. Following an old Indian trail, the route is believed to be part of the path taken by Hernando DeSoto on his expedition of conquest in the 1540s.
The Old Fort King Trail is 6.7 miles long, and runs from just south of the Hillsborough River State Park to John B. Sargeants Sr. Park, along Hwy 301 N. The trail offers hiking, biking and rollerblading on 2.2 miles of the paved section of the trail. Trail head available at John B. Sargeants Sr. Park on the southern end . Parking is available for horse trailers at both John B. Sargeants, Sr. Park which has a corral and watering facilities, and on the northern end(see parking).
Sections of the trail will be very wet and impassable during rainy season.
Congrats to earlhop on FTF Honors!
