Ice age terrace
Deutsch:
Die Eiszeitterrasse bei Koldingen entstand vor etwa 280.000 bis 300.000 Jahren bei der Elster- bzw. Saalevereisung. Charakteristisch ist die Steilkante zum Leinetal.
Durch die Baustoffgewinnung im 19 und 20. Jahrhundert entstanden durch Abbau der eiszeitlichen Ablagerungen große Wasserflächen. Diese machen das Gebiet zu einem bundesweit bedeutsamen Rastplatz für Wasservögel.
Heute ist das Naturschutzgebiet der Eiszeitterrasse auch ein Ziel des Wanderrundwegs 'Koldinger-Seen-Weg' für Wanderer, Radfahrer, Nordicwalker, Jogger - und Geocacher!
Zu den Logbedingungen:
1) Wir hätten gern ein Foto von euch vor der Informationstafel zusammen mit dem Eisvogel.
2) Aufgrund ihrer Höhenlage zur Talaue unterscheidet man 3 Terrassen. Finde diese Terrassenschichten in der Grafik und merke dir ihre Nummer. Sortiere diese Schichten nach ihrem Alter, beginnend mit der Ältesten.
3) Du kannst dir die Logerlaubnis selbst erteilen: Die Lösungs-Mail-Adresse bildet sich nach folgendem Muster: Lösung z.B. 1 2 3 -> earthcache123 ät gmail.com (bitte deinen Accountnamen irgendwo erwähnen)
English:
The glacial age terrace near Koldingen emerged from the Elster- and Saale ice age about 280,000 to 300,000 years ago. Characteristic landmark is the fault scarp towards the Leine valley.
As a result of the ice age materials mining during the 19th and 20th century huge expanses of water were generated. Therefore, this zone became a major rest area for water birds.
Today the protected area of this ice age terrace is also the destination of the loop trail 'Koldinger-Seen-Weg' for hikers, cyclists, Nordic Walker, jogger – and geocacher.
Logging requirements:
1) We would like to have a photo of you taken with the kingfisher from the information board.
2) Based on the different height levels compared to the flood plain three types of terraces layers are distinguished. Look for these terraces layers at the graphic and note their numbers. Sort them by age and start with the oldest.
