Geocache Description:

This geocache is the first in the Frohna community. The curators are excited about joining the caching community. The cache is a medium size “Glad” container that can hold some trade items. It is small container that almost makes medium size.
The cache is at one of the farmstead buildings used to store grain for the livestock. The cache is available even if the memorial is closed!

It's 1839 and you have just arrived on a river steam boat from St. Louis to a wooded region along the Mississippi called Perry County that you will soon be calling home.

This is what the 600+ Saxon Lutheran immigrants faced as they disembarked onto the shores in Wittenberg, MO. They traveled here by ship from Bremen, Germany through New Orleans and up the river to St. Louis. There they stayed for a few months until land was purchased and they could finally settle and become a community again.
The Saxon Lutheran Memorial is an outdoor history museum in the setting of a log cabin village located on the homestead and farm of an early pioneer name Thomas Twyman since 1820. I think you will find the park and memorial a lot of fun.
You may find out more by visiting the memorial website at (visit link) Check out when they have special events. There will be many muggles on site during these events.
The Geocache is available anytime, even when park is closed. If you see someone at the facilities, just tell them “Hi” and “that you are there to find the geocaches.”
Memorial hours of operation:
March 1 - November 30
Monday - closed
Tuesday – Saturday 9am - 5pm
Sunday 1pm - 4pm
Closed on most holidays
