"Dragon on a Pedestal" takes it's name from the seventh book of the Xanth series by Piers Anthony. Xanth is a magical land where everyone has a magical talent. My non-caching friend NAN helped hide this cache.
There is trouble in Xanth again. The Gap Dragon had escaped and was ravaging across the land, the forget-spell was causing mass amnesia.
When the book begins, the Good Magician Humfrey has a mishap with a Fountain of Youth and regresses to the age of a baby. Queen Irene realizes three-year old Princess Ivy had wandered off, and begins a quest to find her daughter. Ivy was headed right for a hungry dragon. Could things get any worse? Probably....
Ivy ends up walking through a forget whirl and caused her to forget how to get home. Luckily, Ivy comes across Humfrey's 8-year-old son Hugo, and - due to her as-of-yet unknown talent of enhancement - Hugo temporarily becomes smarter, braver, and stronger. Ivy also manages to enhance the positive qualities of the Gap Dragon, Stanley Steamer, who had also been regressed to an infant at the same time as Humfrey.
