L'oratorio di San Giacomo sorge sul territorio del comune di Bogogno, su un terreno di proprietà della eccelsa casa Borromeo. Di questa chiesa si hanno notizie solo dal 1595, ma la datazione degli affreschi presenti fanno pensare a una storia precedente.
Nella sua storia, l'oratorio di San Giacomo ha subito molti restauri e modifiche. In un inventario del 1617 si parla di una cappella campestre dedicata a San Giacomo e, proprio per la devozione che la popolazione di Bogogno nutriva verso questo santo, si è deciso di restaurarla attorno l'anno 1624. Il lavoro di restauro fu consistente: fu riparato il tetto e venne ampliata la struttura muraria con la creazione ex novo di una campata della chiesa. Per fare questo, i cittadini di Bogogno offrirono denaro, grano e uova oltre che raddoppiare le "limosine" che venivano date nella chiesa parrocchiale. Finita l'opera di restauro, il parroco, allora don Giulio Cesare Mazza, chiese ed ottenne dal vescovo il permesso di potervi celebrare la santa messa, dopo "un'ispezione" da parte di un suo vicario e l'acquisto dei suppellettili sacri.
All'oratorio furono apportate altre modifiche come la volta mancante, il rifacimento del terreno e la riparazione del tetto; il vescovo ordinò la fine dei lavori entro il 1678.
Tuttavia i lavori non vennero conclusi in breve tempo. Furono conclusi solo nel 1822, quando il parroco potè officiare. Purtroppo con il proseguire del tempo l'oratorio cominciò a degradare e non vennero fatti successivi lavori di restauro. La chiesa di San Giacomo è molto conosciuta anche per i suoi affreschi risalenti a metà del XV secolo. Si sa che gli affreschi sono stati compiuti da un pittore che si firmava "Maestro di Borgomanero" oltre che da Giovanni da Campo che affrescò diverse parti incluse due colonne principali raffiguranti San Giacomo.

St. James' oratory rises on the territory of Bogogno municipality, on land belonging to the mighty Borromeo Family. We have information about this church as from 1595, but the data of the frescos refer to previuos history.
During his history, St. James' oratory underwent a lot of restoration and changes. An inventory of 1617 deals with a rural chapel consecrated to St. James and, for the devotion that the populanion of Bogogno had for this Saint, it was decided to restore it around the year 1624. This was a substantial place of work: the roof was mended and the walls were extended with the creation from the beginning of a new space. To do this the inhabitants offered money, wheat and eggs in addition to doubling the alms for the parish. When the restoration work was finished, the parish priest, that in those years was Don Giulio Cesare Mazza, asked and received permission to celebrate Holy Mass in it, after an inspection by one of his vicar and the purchase of holy furnishings.
Other modifications, like the missing span, the remaking of the ground and the mending of the roof were brought to the oratory; the bishop ordained the end of the works by the year 1678.
Nevertheless, the works were non concluded in a short time. They ended in 1822 when the parish priest was able to officiate. Unfortunately with the passing of time the oratory began to deteriorate and no further restoration work was done.
St. James church is very famous for its frescos dating back to the XV century. It is known that they were created by a painter who singned "Master of Borgomenero" as well as Giovanni da Campo, who did frescoes various portions, which included two main columns representing St. James.
