Get in the
Game! Race to 2010.
In celebration of our 100th Anniversary, we showcase one of our
most popular activities for Cub Scouts — and a true Scouting
icon — the Pinewood Derby.
Pinewood derby cars representing councils, districts, and units
across the country will race towards the 2010 National Scout
Jamboree.
Pinewood Derby cars will race across America using geocaching. The
cars will be Travel Bugs®, moving from cache to cache. The finish
line? Fort A.P. Hill in Virginia for the 2010 National Scout
Jamboree! All of the Pinewood Derby cars that arrive at the
Jamboree will be displayed in a special geocaching area in
Technology Quest. After the Jamboree, the cars will be released to
continue their race … around the world.
The official start of the race is March 6. We are launching our car
along with this new cache in celebration of 100 years of Scouting
in the U.S.A. The car will be gone shortly but there is plenty of
Scout stuff to be traded including a prize for FTF.
Why here? We've enjoyed camping here as a Pack. There are nice
camping facilities with wide open spaces for the boys to burn off
all the s'mores we've made over the fire, good fishing, and hiking
trails for the Webelos to get their 3-mile hike done.
