Geocache Description:

This cache is a replacement and upgrade to GC19RG5 - Astoria Riverfront Photo Mystery

All new cache!  All new photos!  Shorter walking distance!

---------------------------------------------------------------

THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE LISTED COORDINATES!

To find the cache, you will need to solve a puzzle based on photographs taken along the Columbia River in Astoria, Oregon.

Start at the listed coordinates.  This is the Columbia River Maritime Museum.  Parking is available.  After finding the first photo, continue by walking west.

The photographs below were taken along a 1.5 mile section of the riverfront between the Museum and the Astoria Bridge.  This is a very enjoyable, scenic and historic walk (the "Riverwalk").  It also makes a fantastic bike ride.

Your goal will be to locate the site each photo was taken from.  When you find a site, read the multiple choice question below the photo.  You should be able to answer the question by looking around the area near the photo site.  As you select each answer, note the number in parentheses following it.  Write the number in the blank provided for each question.

Once you have answered the questions and filled out the blanks (A-J), build the coordinates for the final cache using the letters indicated as follows:

N  46 AB.CDE

W 123 FG.HIJ

I realize that the subjects of the photos and questions will change over time.  I will try to keep everything current and accurate.  However, if you can't find any one site, you can still determine the needed digit.  The correct sum of all ten digits (A-J) is 26.  Thus, add up the 9 that you do have and subtract that total from 26 to get the missing number.

The cache is a small Tupperware box.  You can find it on your return walk to the Museum.  Since this is a popular trail, please be discreet when retrieving the cache.  You only need to leave the pavement a few feet to get the cache.  No need to venture very far into the rocks.  The hint should help.

If you need some help, send me an email and I will be glad to assist.

If you enjoyed this cache, please check out this list of Photo Caches.

Have fun!
