Geocache Description:

FOR SAFETY REASONS PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO GET TO THIS CACHE FROM THE NEW A165

Hundreds and Thousands? Cake decorations? ……… no Caches!!!

As we approach our 1000th cache find we are in reflective mood about all the experiences we have had along the way and all the hundreds of caches we have found and all the thousands we are hopefully still to find.

I was introduced to geocaching by a work colleague who said she had been looking for plastic boxes in a wood whilst visiting her son. Totally intrigued I investigated the website, gave myself a stupid name (my initials HEB) and bought myself a yellow Etrex with my retirement gift.

Since that day we have updated the GPS, explored places all over the world, met some really lovely people, both locally at caches and meets and also further afield. How else would you get chatting to a young Swiss couple half way up a hillside in Spain, or introduce yourself to a pair of American ladies in Sydney harbour?

We particularly enjoy caches which take us somewhere we may otherwise have not discovered, a monument, a view, a piece of local history.

Unfortunately this is not a wow cache, but there are lovely views of the area in which we local cachers live.

To access the site, you need to join the OLD A165 at a roundabout joining the new road to Mill Lane. This is a ‘no through road’ but there is a good pull in and turning area at the cache site. There is a linking foot/cycle path which will take you to “Beef eggs and chickens”

Perhaps this has got you thinking of your caching history and you may like to share some of your memories in your log.
