While looking for new and fun places to hide caches, I noticed most of Bangor's multitude of parks didn't have caches in them. I decided to change that, and result is the QCP series!
Norumbega Parkway was the site of Bangor's original Customs House, post office, and Norumbega Hall, all of which were destroyed in the Great Fire of 1911. The fire burned 55 acres, destroying 267 buildings, damaging 100 more and causing $3,188,081.90 in losses and damage. It also left 75 families homeless. Today, Norumbega Parkway it is the home of the War Memorial, a statue that commemorates the lives of all those who have died in war for the United States. Kenduskeag Parkway across the street is home to the Hannibal Hamlin Statue. The park is actually an island in the Kenduskeag Stream and is home to this cache.
This cache is on the park/island itself, and is not in the Bangor Savings Building nor in the river! It's located just off the path. Please be very stealthy and/or nonchalant because this is a high-traffic area with muggle businesses in every direction. You can use the wall/bushes for some cover. Please leave the cache hidden as you found it so it won't be muggled. This cache originally contained a log, pen & pencil, a watch, and a silicone iPod case. It was replaced on 5/22/2012.
