This is my 3rd cache hide in Letchworth Park and I thought I would do something a little different this time. I decided to make this a mystery cache and make the final my first micro placement. As an employee of Letchworth State Park I do a lot of research about some of the historic attractions located in the Park. I have been quite interested in the school that has been rebuilt recently to replace the school that was originally built by William Pryor Letchworth and then torn down in 1947. This building is built close to the actual site of the original site and has been constructed to be as close as possible to the appearance of the original building. When you arrive at the posted coordinates there is an informative plaque that tells the history of this building and it also has a drawing and an actual photo of the original school. Be sure to take your time and read the information here because you will need some of it to help you get to the final.
OK, now let’s figure out what you need to get the final;
To get the North coordinates to the final, subtract 108 from the last 3 digits of the year the school was built. Use this number to replace the last 3 digits of the North start coordinates.
To get the West coordinates to the final, multiply the number of years the school was in use by 4 and then add this number to the last 3 digits of the west start coordinates.
There, you have everything you need. Now you can either drive a little closer or enjoy a nice walk from the schoolhouse, past the trout pond, and then to the final. The micro is well hidden at an interesting location.
There may be a gate fee at different times throughout the year. I would like to thank Letchworth Park Manager Roland Beck, for reviewing and approving the placement of this cache.
