SK:
Historia hradu Hajnacka siaha do polovice 13. storocia, do
obdobia tatarskych najazdov. Bol postaveny na strmom cadicovom
brale. Neskor hrad tvoril vyznamnu sucast obrannej linie pri
protitureckych bojoch. Napriek tomu ho Turci dvakrat dobyli, v r.
1545 a 1645, no vzdy len nakratko. Jeho slava skoncila v r. 1703,
ked vyhorel a, dalej neudrziavany, sa rozpada dodnes. V sucasnosti
je zachovanych len zopar zvyskov hradnych murov, schody k vrchnej
casti a pivnica. Povodna stavba hradu siahala az na najvyssie
miesta brala, kde bola palacova stavba s bastou. Dnes je tam
pristup zakazany, nehovoriac o tom, ze bez horolezeckej vybavy
velmi nebezpecny.
Z geologickeho hladiska je cadicove bralo na hradnom vrchu
pozostatkom pravekej sopky z obdobia pred cca 2,5 milionmi rokov.
Cadic tvoril lavovu vypln sopecneho kuzela. Ked sa sopka stala
neaktivnou, vypln stuhla a menej odolne casti sopucha casom
oderodovali, cim obnazili cadicove jadro. Dnes je bralo dominantou
okolitej krajiny, vytvaranej v prehistorickych dobach sopecnou
cinnostou.
.

EN:
The history of Hajnacka Castle stretches back to 13th century,
to Tartar invasions. It was built on a steep basalt rock. In the
later ages, the castle formed an important part of the fortified
line against Turkish attacks. Nevertheless, it was captured by the
Turks two times, in the years 1545 and 1645, but each time only for
a short period. Its fame came to an end in the year 1703, when it
burned out. Since then, it has been decaying until today. What
remains in the present are only a few remnants of the walls, a
stairway to the upper part and a cellar. The original building
reached as high as the top of the rock, where the main residence
and the bastion were built. Today, the access to the hilltop is
forbidden, anyway being very dangerous without hill-climbing
equipment.
From the point of geology, the castle rock is a torso of a
prehistoric volcano from 2,5 million years ago. The basalt formed
the lava filling of the volcanic cone. After the volcanic activity
ceased, the lava solidified and the softer parts of the cone eroded
through the ages. In the end, the basalt core became uncovered.
Today, the rock is dominant in the surrounding country.
Beware, there is a Hungarian cache nearby,
published only at geocaching.hu. It
is located up on the hill, while this one is down below the rock,
so you should not confuse the two. Anyway, it's always good to
check that you have found the one you were searching for
