Geocache Description:

A small Lock-n-Lock type container hidden in a traditional way a bit of a bushwack from the trail.

I took a walk in the Quabbin today. I started at the Visitors Center. Just before the dam there is a small trail on the right which winds itself down to the bottom of the hill. From there follow the brook to the left for a ways, then cross the bridge towards the Swift River. The trail then follows the river towards Rt 9. About half way, the trail forks with the left fork going to Rt 9. I took the right fork. A short ways later the trail again forks with the left fork going to Rt 9. I took the right fork. From here the trail gets smaller and easy to lose. There are yellow blazes, but with the logging some are missing. There are also some orange ribbons along the way. I followed the trail back to the field below the Visitors Center, completing the loop in about 45 minutes. Along the way I hid Quabbin Walk and passed Quabbin Swap, Hitchin Post, and one of our Mystery caches. You can start from the field, the dam, Rt 9, or the other side of the dam to get to the trail. Enjoy your Quabbin walk.

Congrats to goodguys101 for FTF, and thanks for the mention of another way in.

Reading the logs I see many notes on ticks and hills.
The terrain is a three because of the last 100 plus ft ( bushwack uphill ).
The attributes list ticks for a reason, it is the Quabbin ( we carry a special tick spoon we got through one of the cache supply sites).
Sorry they can't all be flat and tick free but at least the Quabbin is scenic and peacefull.
