Geocache Description:

** We have good reason to celebrate! **

Ten years ago on this day (May 1st 2000), the United States Government announced that they would be shutting off Selective Availability (SA) on Global Positioning Satellites, effectively giving an instant upgrade to tens of thousands of GPS receivers. Literally overnight, the accuracy of civilian GPS receivers improved 10 times.  On May 3rd 2000, Dave Ulmer placed the first "GPS Stash" (geocache) at this location.  Read more history here.

Other Mystery Activities
by: Clarkbowman

4 person teams will have the chance to form up and compete in a game Clarkbowman has named "Cache Bash". The competition will offer contestants an opportunity to demonstrate both their dexterity and their ability to look foolish in front of a crowd.  Loosely based on local caches of note, the 5 game categories are:

The Water Tower
Schoolhouse Rock and roll
Not so Suite Success
The great balls of Jericho
If I did not have wings

Just like an unfound cache, each activity will be a mystery until you have selected your particular challenge. Only THEN will you learn what your challenge consists of. The question is, will you be FTF, STF or DNF?

10 Years! Photo

We will take a group photo at 12:00 pm so if you want to be included in the photo, please plan to be at the event site at that time. In order for this event to qualify as an official "10 Years!" event that will have the special event icon, we must take a group shot with our location shown. Here are the specific photo requirements from the website:

- A video or picture must be taken at the event. At least 10 attendees must be in the video/photo along with a legible sign showing the event coordinates and location name.
- The people in the video or photo should be festive. Be inventive! But please keep it family friendly.

The signs will be provided and it's up to you to decide how to be "festive".

Commemorative Pathtags

Albedo0.39 is having special commemorative pathtags produced for the 10 Year event and he will be handing them out while supplies last.
