Geocache Description:

Located near the Kentucky/Tennessee state line, the Cedar Pond picnic area is a quiet place to bring a picnic and enjoy the solace of LBL’s natural beauty. A short trail circles its way though the woods and the old farm pond is open to fishing.  You will be looking for a small loc-n-loc container with a log, pen, a Buffalo Tube for the FTF and some swag.

When my daughters and I come to the south end of LBL to explore the the Homplace, the Great Western Furnace, and the South Bison Range during the spring, summer, or fall, we always stop at Cedar Pond for a picnic and a short stroll through the woods. Cedar Pond is located on the Trace about 12 miles south of the Golden Pond Visitation Center or 13 miles north of the South Welcome Center. The site offers picnicking, hiking and fishing opportunities. Gravel parking for all but the largest of vehicles is available. Picnic tables and an accessible vault toilet are the basic amenities present.

Take a walk 0.15 miles down the trail. The cache is located about 50 feet from the trail. Once you find it, continue following the trail for another 0.13 miles to return to the parking lot.
