Geocache Description:

This cache is located in a very poorly-maintained south-Rockwall cemetery. One of the oldest headstones I came across belongs to Eliza Johnson, deceased in 1820. I was unable to locate much information on those interred, but I did stumble onto a brief excerpt related to the burial ground in a 1970 book authored by Barbara Venton Montgomery, titled: J. W. and Me: The Small Town Experience.

In the book she states, “When citizens of the The Settlement in the late 1960’s were informed that Lake Ray Hubbard would take most of their property, they began leaving their homes. Farmers dispersed; some went to Dallas, some to Southside in Rockwall, and others just left for other parts.

The Cedar Grove Church moved up on the hill overlooking I-30 and Horizon Road.

The historic Glen Hill Cemetery became surrounded to the South by homes and to the East by development along Ridge Road. and The Settlement disappeared into Lake Ray Hubbard and almost from Rockwall history. ”

Upon arriving at the GZ, you will discover a cylindrical container. BYOP
