Geocache Description:

You will find yourself at an entrance to the Maude St Mall.
This area was developed in 1989 when Maude St. between Fryers and High street was blocked off to make way for a rejuvenated shopping precinct. The Mall was officially opened on Nov 9, 1989. One of my favourite features that was unfortunately removed was a fountain that ran through the middle of the Mall. The fountain started roughly where the amphitheatre is now and ran down Stewart St. where there is now a small grassed area.

Many years ago now, during the popular Bushmarket that is held in late February, an annual game of waterfighting would take place. All stalls would quickly run out of water pistols and from there it was open season on anyone under the age of 18 who carried a water pistol (well even if you didn't have a water pistol you were still open game). School kids from everywhere would use the fountain centre piece as an ammunitions station. There were many times that someone would end up in the fountain while trying to refill and escape attack at the same time. It truly was an activity that brought all the kids of the Goulburn Valley together for a bit of fun. Another popular past time was to cover the water inlet valve of the fountain with a disposable cup lid, causing the fountain to overflow. Don't ask me how I know this.

The Cache:

At the co-ordinates you will find a usual micro cache. You will need to BYO pen to fill out the log. Sorry, not enough room for any swaps.

Due to high muggle activity it is best to attack this one early in the morning or early evening to avoid peak times. It is easy enough to use stealth to retrieve this one during peak muggle times though.

Since publishing this cache the pub nearby has re-opened. I have toyed with increasing the difficulty because of this. I have decided to keep the difficulty as it is, but be warned, this cache can be made very hard to retrieve with stealth during peak meal times.

Hope you enjoy it.
