Geocache Description:

A magnetic 35mm film canister containing logsheet only, please bring a pen. Wheelchair accessible. The cache is located outside this historic Islington building which is also an award winning music venue, widely regarded as one of the best in London and venue of choice for some well known artists. Please take care to replace the cache as found / per the clue.

Union Chapel is a Grade II listed building and one of the most outstanding churches of London. It was designed by James Cubitt and built between 1876-77. The magnificent 170 foot tower and spire were completed twelve years later in 1889 and are now an integral part of the Islington skyline. It is a magnificent example of Victorian gothic architecture and displays many features which were at cutting edge of technological advance in their day, including a fine "Father Willis" organ, still in its original condition. It is also notable for its adventurous auditorium design on an octagonal ground plan.

Today the chapel is undergoing restoration with its tower covered in scaffolding. It continues to be used as a music venue and recent artists performing here have included U2, Snow Patrol, Keane, Bjork, David Byrne, Chronos and Noel Gallagher
