LLKD-93 West Mountain
Shelter
Without a doubt
the finest view from any shelter in Harriman. The shelter is
at 1200 feet of elevation at the southeast edge of West Mountain
summit. From the shelter you can see the Timp, the Hudson
River and on a clear day New York City out in the distance.
The stone shelter itself was built in 1928. A great place to
stop and rest or have a bite to eat. The day I placed the
cache it was quite crowded even with more than two feet of snow on
the ground.
The cache is a
black plastic ammo box hidden within some large rocks about 210
feet from the shelter. Please rehide better than you
find.
