Abbot Logic Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Allen Cachers: I stopped by to check on the cache today while out doing some Spring cache maintenance. The cache was indeed missing. I searched the area but could not find any remains to be removed.

Only one find on this cache in 2018, and only two finds in 2017. This puzzle seems to have run its course, so we have decided not to replace it. Opening the area to others.

Thanks to everyone who solved the puzzle and found this cache!

Geocache Description:

This cache is NOT located at the posted cache coordinates, but the posted coordinates will take you to the entrance of the park where the cache is hidden.

This cache is located in Abbot Road Park in East Lansing, MI. The park entrance for motor vehicles is on Abbot Rd. The park can also be accessed by pedestrians and bicycles via the Northern Tier Trail. Please respect any posted park hours.

To find the cache, you just need to solve the logic puzzle below.

Five boys each decided to take their dogs out geocaching on different trails in Cacheville Park, and each found a cache hidden in a different way. One of the dogs was a Chihuahua, one of the trails was the Oak Trail, and one of the hiding spots was a hollow log. Match the boy to his dog, the trail he took, and the way the cache was hidden, using the following clues:

1) The cache hidden at the base of a tree was on the Elm Trail.
2) Nick found the cache under the stack of sticks.
3) Kyle did not hike on the Beech Trail.
4) The boy with the Golden Retriever found a cache hanging in a tree.
5) Jacob has a Black Lab.
6) The cache on the Maple Trail is not hidden in a stump, hanging in a tree, or under a stack of sticks.
7) The boy with the Collie found a cache on the Beech Trail.
8) The boy hiking the Pine Trail found a cache in a stump.
9) Conor hiked the Elm Trail.
10) Blake does not have a Collie, Huskie, or a Golden Retriever, and he did not find a cache in a stump.

This cache is a medium lock-n-lock container. Mr. Allen Cacher and Annabel found this hiding spot exploring the woods while Annabel was trying out her new muck boots. The amount of bushwhacking required and the amount of water/mud encountered will depend on the approach chosen, and could increase the terrain rating.

Congrats to thevidas on being First to Find.

Note: The original hide location completely disintegrated and the cache was moved to a similar hide location that matches the hint in August 2014. For the new hide location, subtract .004 from the north and add .008 to the west coords you get from the puzzle solution (although it is likely that you would find the cache anyway if you just widen your search a bit).
