A cache that is dedicated to one of the greatest men who ever lived. Sir Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of penicillin, was born here at Lochfield farm. Over the years his discovery has saved the lives of millions and to this day, derivatives of the original antibiotic remain in common use. Truly one of mankind’s greatest heroes.
Mr. Scott, the owner of Lochfield, is aware of the concepts and ethics of geocaching and has kindly allowed this cache to be placed in his property close to the engraved memorial stone.
Please use the parking and turning area at the rear of the farm and out of courtesy make your visit during reasonable hours.
Mr Scott has a visitors book that geocachers are more than welcome to sign.
Sir Alexander Fleming also said that ............... "It is the lone worker who makes the first advance in a subject; The details may be worked out by a team, but the prime idea is due to enterprise, thought and perception of an individual."
These are words that will remain relevant forever.
