Geocache Description:

False Cape State Park is located in the southeast corner of Virginia. False Cape State Park is located on a barrier spit nestled between Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge and North Carolina. Parking is available at the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center. Access to False Cape State Park is obtained by hiking or bicycling through Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge or by boating across Back Bay. The terrain and difficulty are rated high due to the length of the hike or bike.

This is a multi-cache with four locations, the wildlife cards will be located in the fourth/final location. This mulit-cache is made up of 2 traditional/regular caches and 2micro-caches. The first location is a traditional/regular cache and will contain the coordinates to the next location and small trade items, the second cache is a micro-cache and will contain the coordinates to the next location, the third location is again a micro-cache and will contain the coordinates to the final location, the final cache is a traditional/regular cache and contains the wildlife cards, logbook and small trade items.

We recommend bringing plenty of water, a snack, bug repellant, sunscreen, camera, map, compass, spare batteries, cell phone and a sense of adventure.
Cache is in a highly sensitive area for nature and history as well. Please be respectful of the area, stick to the trails and NO BUSHWACKING!

This cache was part of the 2010 Virginia State Parks Geocaching Adventure. This series ended on December 15, 2010. However, the park has taken over this cache so it is still active. Rewards are no longer available for this cache, but we will be launching the Virginia State Parks 75th Anniversary Geocaching Adventure in March 2011. For upcoming information on the new series go to: www.virginiaoutdoors.com.
